Community Service
Community service is a course requirement for both psychology and sociology. Community service is defined as volunteer work helping needy people. However, baby sitting, the high school Christmas project and working in an animal shelter do not qualify. In fact, community service sites must be approved by the classroom teacher. Half of the community service requirement is due at the end of the first semester in January and the remaining hours are due in May. Community service is documented by a signed form in January and a signed form and a reflective journal in May. Failure to submit community service on time may result in failure for the quarter or the school year. Late work is not accepted.
