The Social Studies program is a NCSS Standards Based program which offers students opportunities to pursue the study of World and American history through the use of varied instructional practices and an array of assessments.  The major areas of study include both World and American history topics from the Renaissance to the present.  Elective offerings complement the history curriculum.  All students are placed in classes based on previous work and teacher recommendation.  In keeping with the district’s K-11 social studies curriculum, National History Day activities and projects are offered to the students in all classes. A plethora of classroom tasks are offered in all disciplines which allow students to develop their electronic portfolio. Students may elect to use a National History Day project as the basis for their capstone project. This should be done in conjunction with a capstone teacher.  Students also have the opportunity to take College Board approved Advanced Placement courses in American History and Psychology.
