Welcome back to Oak Haven and the start
of the 2008 - 2009 school year! I hope you have found time for
some relaxation and family fun this summer. At Oak Haven our
classrooms are ready, our office is up and running, and Mrs.
Frigon is back at her desk!
Our New Pre-school
We have some
very good news to share! This year we will be adding a
pre-school to our school community! During the 2008 – 2009
school year, we are delighted to announce, that we will now be a
Pre – K through Grade 5 school.
Faculty
and Staff
There are a few staffing changes this
year. As many of you know, Mrs. Paretta has taken a position at
another elementary school. We will miss her and wish her the
best – but are glad to report our new school nurse is Ms. Carol
Smith. I know she will be a great addition to our Oak Haven
family. We also have some new faces to add to our teaching
staff. First, we welcome Ms. Anna Fitzgerald to our 1st
grade – She is returning to Oak Haven after being away for a few
years and, of course, we wish Mrs. Lupino well, as she takes on
a new position at Washington Oak. I
am also pleased to introduce Ms. Tara Renfrew, our new
pre-school teacher, and four new teaching assistants – Mrs.
Carol Dion, Mrs Vianne Thibeault, Ms. Linda Pageau and Mrs Lisa
Shedlock. Also, we are so very glad to have both Mr.
Parker and Mrs. Dadekian returned from leaves of absence. We
have missed them both!
Open House!
Save the date! Our annual Open House
will be held at 6:30 PM on Thursday, September 18th.
This evening is a time for parents and to tour the school
and your child’s classroom and find out a little bit about your
child’s day as well as classroom
expectations and routines.
Keyboard lab!
One
last bit of good news!
The students at Oak Haven School are very lucky to have a
dedicated and passionate music teacher, Mr. John Buchanan, and
now we are delighted to announce that this year we will be
adding a Keyboard Lab to our music program!
I would like to extend my heartfelt
gratitude to all of you who have contributed your time and
energy into making Oak Haven the wonderful school that it is. I
encourage you to stay involved in daily school events. Your
support is key to our success in whatever ways you can offer
it. The start of the school year offers a unique opportunity
for students, teachers, and families to plan for their year of
learning together. It’s a time to set goals, acknowledge
challenges, and look forward to the year ahead!
