The second graders have observed meal
worms and wax worms in the larva stage during science. The children
have learned many interesting facts about these insects. One is that
they enter a new stage called the pupa. Ask your child to tell you what
they know and about their prediction of what will happen next.
In math we are reviewing money and
telling time. We will also begin “Mad Minutes” (timed test) to ensure
the children learn their math facts. Playing the money exchange game,
using fact triangles or decks of cards are some ways to reinforce these
skills at home.
The children will be learning about the
first Thanksgiving. We will be reading several books and writing a
response to literature. As a culminating activity, the children will
present a special program to their families. Keep your eyes open for
the invitation!
