We can't believe it is already June. Our last unit in Math for fourth
graders focuses on Volume, and then we progress to tessellations, Frieze
patterns, and symmetry and reflection. We haven't stopped challenging
our students with the weekly Math Masters tests. We are still trying to
earn the last few certificates and awards for the Month of June. Don't
forget to practice your addition, subtraction, multiplication, and
division facts over the summer so that you are ready to go in September!
The students have already been assigned
their last book report. They are responsible for making a "Sandwich Book
Report". Projects are due on Monday, June 8th. We will be presenting
the sandwiches that week in Reading. Finally, all Coventry students
should have completed their required 25 books read by the middle of
June. If you have not yet reached that mark, don't forget to hand in
your reading logs, book slips, or lists to your teacher!
The Fourth Grade Social Studies field
trip is going to be on Wednesday, June 17th. We will be
walking from Oak Haven to the Nathanael Greene Homestead just up the
road. The classes will be enjoying a picnic lunch there, so please wear
sneakers and pack a lunch that day. As many chaperones as can come as
are welcome. Prices and an informational notice went home on a pink
paper. Through our Social Studies work, we will be talking about Rhode
Island history.
There is still one more Science
investigation task. In this project, students will put their
electricity knowledge to the test by constructing a working flashlight
using only a few materials. This is always a lot of fun! See you at
the family picnic on June 5th.
