It’s hard to believe the end of the year is here already. There are many important dates for our fifth grade families to remember.

On June 8^th Dr. Almeida, principal from the Middle School, will visit the students to talk to them about next year. This is a great introduction and a time to answer any questions the children may have and eliminate any fears. On this day the Middle School provides us with information about summer reading for the students. Please watch for this to come home.

One June 10^th at 6:30, Oak Haven parents are invited to the Middle School auditorium for a parent orientation. This is a great opportunity to get a better idea of what is in store for your child next year.

On June 3^rd, members of the Safety Patrol will attend the annual field trip to United Skates of America in thanks for the great job they have done this year.

On June 16^th, 17^th, and 18^th, the students will participate in our annual Fifth Grade Field Day. On these days it is important that your child wear sneakers and sun screen, and have a water bottle as we will be outside most of the time. All children are encouraged to participate in as many events as they wish. Certificates of participation and award ribbons for each event will be presented at the end of the year award ceremony.

On Monday, June 22^nd, at 2:00 pm, all families are invited to attend the Grade Five Annual Awards Ceremony. A separate invitation will go home as the date draws near.

On Friday, June 19^th, we will be heading to Camp Westwood for our annual End of the Year celebration. A permission slip will be sent home within the next couple of weeks with details and a return slip to order your child’s choice for lunch as well as yours if you will be attending. All parents are invited to chaperone on this day.

Mrs. Smith, our school nurse, will be visiting fifth grade this month to teach the children about their bodies changing and growing as they begin to enter adolescence.
