As
we rapidly approach the end of the year, we will continue to learn about
the rainforest, plants, fish, worms, and butterflies.
Exciting things are happening in
our room: the bean seeds that we planted a little over a week ago are
growing at a remarkable rate, our chrysalises have emerged as beautiful
butterflies which will be released within the coming week, and we will
be learning how to set up a worm bin for composting. We are recording
our observations in our science notebooks and have added the Science
center to our “center time” in order to encourage more in-depth
exploration and monitoring of the plants and animals that are visiting
us.
In other academic
areas, we are continuing to build and develop the skills we have worked
on this year. We will continue to work in reading groups and write in
our journals. We will also be finishing up a unit on poetry.
Mathematically, we are working on subtraction and will continue to
explore problem solving.
Thanks to all who
attended Reader’s Reception. The children were wonderful and had a
great time sharing their books and songs with everyone! Thank you so
much for all your support. It’s been a great year!
