Mrs. Shedlock

This month we will continue with our study of the alphabet.  By the end of this month we will have covered all of the lowercase letters and their related sounds.

Mathematically, we will continue with our unit on numeral formation (numerals up to 10) and numeral recognition up to 15.  Our problem solvers will relate to numerical operations.  We will be using "number sentences" (i.e. 2+3=5) to represent information in a more abstract way.

Thematically, we will be exploring the concepts of how we work together within a family and as a community.  We will be talking about how people lived during colonial times and how things have changed since our country was settled.  The concept of "then and now" will be the focus.

Thanks to those of you who were able to come in for conferences.  I appreciate you interest and support.  If you were unable to come in , but would like a chance to sit down with me, it is not too late!  Please just send me a note and I will be glad to arrange a time for us to meet.

Have a Happy Thanksgiving!

Few children learn to love books by themselves.

Someone has to lure them into the wonderful world

of the written word: someone has to show them.
