Ms. Marcoccio - Monday and Thursday

Check out this picture of a Climbing Wall! Thanks to our PTA for working hard trying to get one installed in the Oak Haven Gym to be used by all students in Physical Education!

Mrs. Hemendinger - Tuesday and Thursday

Check out the phenomenal art work our Oak Haven students create in our foyer!

Thank you, boys and girls, for remembering to "DRESS FOR A MESS" on your art day!  If you want to bring in an art shirt or apron to use and share, please do so.  We can always use hand soap in pump bottles and kleenex if you would like to donate anything to the art studio.  As always, the children are doing an amazing job creating their own works of art.

The primary grades have been exploring the world of Henri Matisse by creating paper cuttings of their own.  The intermediate grades have been painting, doing still-life drawings, and looking at portraits by Pablo Picasso. The fifth grade is enjoying creating plaster totem poles with our student teacher from RIC, Ms.Burke.  I will let her tell you a little something about herself.

Hello everyone, my name is Lauren Burke, and I am enjoying working with your children at Oak Haven.  I will be graduating from Rhode Island College this spring with a second bachelor's degree in art education.  After earning my first degree in studio art and French from the University of Virginia, I worked as a graphic designer for seven years.  I am excited about combining my skills as an artist with a degree in teaching to help your children learn and grow!

Mr. Rosenfield  - Wednesday

Oak Haven Band!  Another new school year, and Fifth Grade Band begins again.  As part of their weekly routine, band members should bring 3 things to practice – their instrument, their book, and a pencil.  ...and don't forget - Good habits can pay off for budding musicians.

Band Club!   Students in grade 4 who might be interested in joining the band are encouraged to give an instrument a try and to join the Band Club that will run every Friday morning before school at 8:30 AM.  A notice will be sent home to all!  Please contact Mr. Rosenfeld for more information.

Mr. Buchanan - Wednesday and Friday

Mr. "B" is the music teacher at Oak Haven for grades Kindergarten - Grade 5.  We are delighted to announce that Oak haven has purchased equipment for a Keyboard Lab:

  1. To strengthen the existing music program at Oak Haven

  2. To enhance student interest and excitement in music making

  3. To encourage students to master skills that they might not otherwise have access to

The students at Oak Haven School are very lucky to have a dedicated and passionate music teacher who provides them with a multi-year sequential curriculum that not only exposes them to the fine arts but we believe affects their linguistic, mathematical, and organizational skills.  Thanks to Mr. John Buchanan, all of Oak Haven’s students participate in a high-quality music education program that allows them to create, describe, read, and improvise music.  We are excited about adding a Keyboard Lab, to our music education program to serve all of our students and can't wait to hear them on Wednesday's and Fridays!  Stop In!
