Ongoing Activities

Cultural Arts

PTA and Tiogue teachers work together to bring exceptional cultural arts events to the school.  From storytellers to the Coventry High School band, magicians to theatre performances, our children get to experience a wide diversity of art and culture!  Watch our calendar and newsletter for Cultural Arts Announcements.  For more information or to volunteer, contact chairpersons Sue Flynn or Jerri Petrarca.

Box Tops for Education  Box Tops for Education

Box Tops for Education is a program for earning cash to buy equipment for the children.  There are contests between classrooms and the kids are rewarded with prizes!  In the past the school has purchased a rock-climbing wall for the gym, music supplies and a new computer lab! This is a year-long effort.  Box Tops are collected in the classroom each month.

This year our Box Tops money will go to playground improvements!  Just by cutting the little symbol off your boxes we can raise money to make the improvements we desperately need...like grass for our field, completing our fence to keep vandals out, installing new basketball hoops, new asphalt, wood chips instead of sand and so much more. Encourage your relatives to collect too!  For more information or to volunteer, contact chairperson Kendra Pascucci or visit the Box Tops web site to register to receive more information. School Store

The School Store is open every Thursday during the lunch periods, and gives the students an opportunity to buy school supplies and novelty items.  The 5th grade students run the school store (with adult supervision) as a hands-on learning experience.  All items are sold at cost, starting at 5 cents.  For more information or to volunteer, contact chairperson Michelle McNeil. Yearbook

The Tiogue Yearbook is designed and produced by the PTA!  We are always looking for input, especially in taking photos to include!  Yearbook orders are taken in the Spring and the books are delivered in June.  For more information or to volunteer, contact chairperson TBA. Back to top.

Teacher Appreciation Week

Week of May 7, 2012

Field Day

Friday, June 15, 2012

Fundraisers

During the year we hold fundraisers large and small in order to generate funds for our many programs, events and activities.  The money raised from these efforts allow us to defer the cost of ticketed events like Boys' and Girls' Choice, provide free programs like RIF and Cultural Arts, and to enhance our school through improvements like the playground.  Our fundraising efforts include:

Angel Fund

It is important for each child to have the opportunity to be involved in special events and activities.  The PTA feels strongly that no child should be excluded due to financial limitations.  If you, or someone you know, needs assistance in order to take part in any PTA activity or special event, you may request assistance from the Angel Fund.  The Angel Fund is a special PTA Fund which is designed to provide assistance to families facing financial difficulties.  The process is completely confidential.  For more information, contact Principal, Mrs. Louise Boyce. Volunteer Opportunities

There is a place for everyone in PTA! Even if you only have a few hours a school year, you can make a difference! Some PTA volunteers are available only during the day while others are available only at night.  Some can volunteer throughout the year and others only have time to help out a one function during the school year.  Some step forward to lead a committee while others lend a hand behind the scenes.  It doesn’t matter how many times you volunteer or how, only that you the gap between school and home and make sure that it fits comfortably into your schedule!  Interested in getting involved?  Contact TBA. Communication

The PTA plays a critical role in communicating to all Tiogue Elementary School families.  A well informed family is an involved family.  Stay informed:

Newsletter

Each month watch for our newsletter!  You will find messages from our Principal, Mrs. Boyce and our Nurse, important news, information and reminders as well as a calendar of upcoming events.

Web Site

The PTA manages and administers the Tiogue Elementary web site.  The site was completely rebuilt for the 2010-2011 school year.   Please keep in mind, the web is a "living document" which means it's always changing and in need of updating.  If you see something that needs a little help...let us know!  If you have any ideas, comments or suggestions, please contact Erica Bryson.
