December 2008 FROM THE PRINCIPAL... Dear Families,
Thank you all for the wonderful events that occurred at school during November. Bubblemania, Book Fair, RIF, Movie Night and the Holiday Festival were all well attended and huge successes! Thank you to all of the volunteers who made these events happen. The children just loved every one of them!
Also, many thanks to everyone who contributed food for our Thanksgiving baskets. This year we were able to give away 30 baskets! Your generosity is deeply appreciated. We’ve been asked by the Coventry Dept. of Human Services to participate in their annual food drive for the ‘Tis the Season program. This program provides needy families in our town with food, clothing and gifts especially during the holidays. If you would like to contribute to ‘Tis the Season, donations can be left in the shopping cart in the front foyer. During this difficult economic time, every little bit helps.
Our first trimester ended and report cards will be issued on Dec. 9th. Please review the report carefully and contact your child’s teacher if you have any questions.
We have a busy December here. Remember to check the dates on the calendar. Also, check out our website at www.coventryschools.net. Click on Tiogue School for pictures and updates.
On behalf of our entire community, I wish all of you a happy and healthy holiday season!
Sincerely,
Denise Richtarik Tiogue School Principal TRAFFIC PATTERNS Many parents drop students off in the morning. PLEASE follow the traffic patterns! Cars are NOT ALLOWED in front of the building in the morning. This is a “busses only” zone. Also, children should not be dropped off in the middle of the parking lot. The drop off point is in near the bins on the left hand side of the school. Cars should then proceed around the parked cars to the back of the parking lot and then out to the road. You follow the perimeter of the parking lot! There are arrows indicating the traffic pattern. Students are being dropped off all over the parking lot. They are walking between parked cars and in front of and behind busses. Cars have been backing up instead of waiting for the cars ahead of them to leave. For safety’s sake, everyone needs to be patient and follow the traffic patterns! FROM THE NURSE… Dear Families,
Thank you so much for the generous food donations during the past couple of months. It's nice to know that even in these difficult economic times, people are still willing to help out in whatever way they can. What a wonderful role model for your children.
The vision screening has been completed. Thanks so much to those who helped to get it done so promptly. If you received a referral for your child, please take your child to the eye doctor and send the results in to me for your child's health record.
Dr. Gordon will be here on Jan. 9th for the State-mandated dental screening. If you have sent in the yellow dental card for your child, he/she will not be screened. It's not too late to send in a dental card for your child. If you need another one, feel free to ask for one.
Thank you again for your continued support. Happy Holidays.
Thank you,
Shirley Hall Tiogue School Nurse
