Taste of the Season...

Spinach - Super Food for your Bones!

Calorie for calorie, leafy green vegetables like spinach with its delicate texture and jade green color provide more nutrients than any other food.

Spinach is an excellent source of vitamin K, vitamin A, manganese, foliate, magnesium, iron, vitamin C, vitamin B2, calcium, potassium, and vitamin B6. It is a very good source of dietary fiber, copper, protein, phosphorus, zinc and vitamin E. In addition, it is a good source of omega-3 fatty acids, niacin and selenium.  The vitamin K provided by spinach-almost 200% of the Daily Value in one cup of fresh spinach leaves and over 1000% of the Daily Value in one cup of boiled spinach (which contains about 6 times as much spinach) is important for maintaining bone health.

Strawberries - Super Food for your Brain!

They also qualified as a very good source of dietary fiber and iodine as well as a good source of potassium, foliate, riboflavin, vitamin B5, omega-3 fatty acids, vitamin B6, vitamin K, magnesium, and copper.

Strawberries are a super food for your brain because they are high in antioxidants.  The vitamin C, found in strawberries, has been shown to be very important for brain functions.
