Students in grades 1 - 5 have begun to check out library books. We have discussed the catalog, book care and
how to use the library. Please help your child to take good care of their library books and return them on
time.
Children in grades 3 – 5 have begun the year by focusing on activities surrounding the Rhode Island
Children’s Book Award Nominees for 2012. For a list of all twenty books go to

. Students who read three of the books by
February 2012 can vote for the one they like best. Last year the winner was Never Smile at a Monkey.
In grades K – 2 we will be enjoying fall books and a series about the library media center. Some of these
titles include: Penelope Popper, Book Doctor, The Library Pages, and Our Librarian Won’t Tell Us Anything.
On Saturday, October 15th, the Lincoln School will be holding their annual Rhode Island Festival of
Children’s Books and Authors. It will be held at 301 Butler Avenue in Providence and many exceptional
children’s authors will be there including Christopher Van Allsburg (The Polar Express), Linda Sue Park
(A Single Shard), and Deborah Wiles (Each Little Bird that Sings).Visit the website for complete
